The Tree of Life, Stirling Engine

The Tree of Life was an individual project in an intro to machining class I took in 2017. The goal was to design and build a gamma-type Stirling engine. I used SolidWorks for the design, testing all parts and fasteners for interference before machining them. I created a detailed engineering drawing for each part I fabricated and assembly drawings for the more complex mechanisms. I then used a combination of manual mills, CNC mills, and manual lathes to create the engine. Lastly, I cut out wood inlays to add some artistry to the project. I won awards for the best design and fastest engine in the class.
